Policy
Answers to the questions pilots ask most often before a practical test.
What do I need to bring to the checkride?
Bring your logbook (paper or electronic, with all required aeronautical experience endorsed), a government-issued photo ID, your student or pilot certificate, your current medical certificate (if required for the certificate or rating sought), and your IACRA confirmation number. Bring the aircraft's airworthiness certificate, registration, and current weight and balance data as well.
How far in advance should I schedule?
Reach out as soon as your instructor signs you off — test slots fill up, especially during good-weather months. A firm date can't be confirmed until your endorsements are complete and your application is submitted in IACRA.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate on test day?
Safety comes first. If weather is below the standards required for the maneuvers on your test, we'll reschedule at no additional cost to you beyond any applicable rescheduling fee described in your original agreement.
What happens if I don't pass every task on the first attempt?
An unsatisfactory performance on one or more tasks results in a "discontinuance," not an outright failure of the whole test. You'll receive a notice of the specific task(s) that need additional training, and can schedule a retest once your instructor endorses you again — often covering only the incomplete items rather than the entire test.
Can I retake the test with a different examiner?
Yes. FAA regulations don't require you to retest with the same examiner, though scheduling with the examiner who has your original paperwork on file is often the most efficient option.
What should I do if I need to cancel?
Contact us as early as possible. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee to cover the time reserved for your test.
