Why do I need an account?
Short answer: you don't, unless you're scheduling a checkride.
Everything else on this site — flight instruction, pilot services, aircraft consulting — is open to browse without an account, and always will be. An account is only needed for one thing: scheduling a DPE checkride.
Checkride slots are limited, and they aren't handed out first-come-first-served — which unfortunately makes them a target for bots and resellers, the same way concert tickets get bought up and resold. Requiring a real, verified email address for each booking is what keeps that from happening to ordinary pilots trying to schedule their own checkride.
There's no password — we send a one-time code to your email each time you sign in, so there's nothing to steal in a data breach because there's nothing stored to steal.
You're in control of if and when your account gets deleted — pick a specific date, a number of days after your last activity, or keep it around indefinitely and delete it yourself whenever you like. You can change your mind at any time from your account page.
For the full detail on what we collect, how long it's kept, and what creating an account means, see our Plain Language Terms of Service.
